Ethel Springs Lake
Ethel Springs Lake is a 30 acre, manmade lake that was created in 1900 and took two years to complete. Half of the lake is located in Derry Township and half is in Derry Borough. The lake was built by H. P. Stark Construction and holds an average of 160 million gallons of water.
The lake is fed by natural springs and the runoff from two water dams in Chestnut Ridge that hold 2½ million gallons of water. There is a path for walking or jogging that goes part of the way around the lake. You will also find some benches conveniently sprinkled along the path.
Ethel Springs Lake is home to many types of waterfowl, such as ducks, geese and even several white swans. Click the pictures to enlarge.
